I got sucked into another Facebook ad… again…
Except this time, I’m glad I did!
The ad was for a product called True Lemon, which boasted a non-gmo, all-natural, low-calorie drink enhancement.
“Sure,” I thought to myself. Yet, it compelled me enough to at least click on the ad.
I can be quite the skeptic when it comes to all these low-calorie good-for-you things, because many times, the promise doesn’t live up to the hype – there’s almost always some questionable ingredient, somewhere.
But with true lemon, I didn’t really find much to complain about. No artificial colors or sweeteners, all flavors derived from non-gmo natural sources, including fruits, vegetables, spices, etc. So what was there to lose?
“So, they sell a 10-pack on their website for $3.99, and I’m sure there’s shipping…oh wait – there’s an option to look for local retailers…” I thought to myself. So I punched in my zip code, and BAM – they sell it at the grocery store right by my house!
“Well, I’m putting in a shipt order tomorrow – I wonder if they have any at Meijer… they do! And it’s only $2.99.”

So the next day, I get it, but put it up for the time being, as I was taking care of a sick 5-year old at the time. Right before bed, I remembered I got it, so I quickly mixed up a batch…
“Ok, this it’s horrible, but I definitely don’t think this is right…”
I figured I didn’t add enough water, though I thought the glass I had would hold the 16 ounces one pack required. Even though it was fairly strong, it did taste similar to the raspberry lemonade I love drinking, even with an aftertaste of stevia (to me, stevia has a more-subtle, similar aftertaste to aspartame).
“I’ll have to try this again…” and I went to bed.
Well, tonight, was the night to try it again. I know I need to be drinking water to get me through this pregnancy, and I don’t “hate” drinking water, I just get SOOOO incredibly tired of there not being any FLAVOR to it. and today was a day where my tiredness had me reaching for way too much of the high-sugar, caffeinated beverages that I really don’t need to be drinking right now.
So I got up, got a measuring cup out, measured out my 16 ounces of water, and began pouring it into my glass…
Sure enough, I was WAY off on my water last time, at LEAST by half a cup! And, of course, my glass held 16 ounces up to the rim, so I had to pour it into another, larger glass.
Since I thought my last one needed a bit more of a sweetness boost (and to cut down on the tart a bit, I decided to add 1/2 tsp of cane sugar to it. These packs have 1 gram of sugar in them, but adding that sugar only adds 2 more grams, and 3 grams of sugar in 16 ounces is MUCH better than the 46 grams my mountain dew had today.
So I stirred in my raspberry lemonade pack and my sugar, took a sip and, bam! This actually is pretty good! I can still taste a bit of a stevia aftertaste, but it certainly wasn’t as strong and lasting as it was when I made it the wrong way last time.
So what do I have to say about this? Check them out for sure! Truelemon.com. They have lemonades, limeades, orangeade, and some iced tea flavors. I for SURE want to check out the black cherry limeade. Yum!
Have you tried it? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
